Overview
The queen with the feathers of flame is a still-unnamed ruler who appears in one of Elain's visions.
Vassa is the missing sixth human queen, a ruler from Scythia who is alive but captive to a hidden sorcerer-lord on the continent. Her possible support makes her a valuable prospective ally against Hybern.
Vassa remains at the southeastern manor with Jurian under only a temporary reprieve from the enchantment rather than permanent freedom.
In later conflict, Vassa identifies Briallyn as the likeliest queen behind a new threat and warns that Koschei is exploiting the chaos to seek freedom and dominion.
Appearance
In human form, Vassa is a young and strikingly beautiful woman with reddish-gold hair and blue eyes.
Personality and Behavior
Vassa is blunt, fierce, and urgent, speaking directly even when caution might better protect her.
Relationships
Vassa regards Feyre's father as a better father to her than her own and promises to honor his memory throughout her life.
She offers Jurian a place in her court.
Lucien frequently visits Vassa at the southeastern manor where she lives with Jurian. Vassa and Jurian broadly agree about the future of the human territories, though they differ over how to secure it.
Her continuing association with Jurian is openly contentious, with the two frequently at odds.
Koschei continues to assert a possessive claim over Vassa and expects her to return to him.
Abilities and Skills
Vassa's curse transforms her into a firebird by day and restores her human form at night.
As a firebird, she can fly over a battlefield and unleash enough flame to burn ships into husks.
Important Events
Vassa warned the other human queens that Jurian's return signaled approaching danger and urged them to rally their armies. Rather than heed her, they arranged for an ancient death-lord north of the Wall to curse and abduct her, while concealing her disappearance as an illness.
After Feyre's father found her, Vassa helped him rally a human armada and led the fleet that came to attack Hybern from the sea.
Drawing on her knowledge of the human queens, Vassa identifies Briallyn as the likeliest queen behind a new threat. She also warns that Koschei manipulated the queens into selling her to him and is using the resulting disorder in pursuit of his freedom and dominion.
Azriel's investigation confirms Vassa's warning: Koschei is communicating with Briallyn across great distances and directing her toward the Dread Trove for his own purposes.
