Overview
The Attor is an ancient, malevolent winged faerie of the kind that inspired old human horror stories.
It serves Amarantha as an enforcer, capturing prisoners and helping administer her punishments Under the Mountain.
After Amarantha's death, the Attor enters the King of Hybern's service and operates as one of his agents.
During Hybern's assault on Velaris, it helps lead the attack and the slaughter in the Rainbow before Feyre brings it down from the sky and leaves its body shattered in the street.
Even in death the Attor serves a purpose: a fragment of its remains becomes the grisly offering that secures the Bone Carver's bargain.
Appearance
The Attor is tall, skeletally thin, and gray, with batlike ears, a leathery face, long bony fingers, membranous wings, and a snout lined with silver fangs. Its deep, sibilant voice is as distinctive as its predatory appearance.
Abilities and Behavior
The Attor can conceal itself from sight and fly on its membranous wings.
Cruel and eager to intimidate, it takes visible pleasure in suffering and readily participates in beatings, coercion, and spectacles designed to terrify prisoners.
It can approach without warning and is strong enough to lift Feyre bodily while restraining her with one hand.
Encounters
The Attor captures Feyre in the passages Under the Mountain and drags her before Amarantha, where it helps beat her unconscious after her bargain is accepted. It also carries her into and out of the killing ground during her first trial.
Sent by the King of Hybern to seize Feyre, the Attor ambushes her in the human lands but is captured by Rhysand. Azriel's interrogation extracts its information about Hybern's approaching army, after which Rhys orders its legs broken and wings shredded before sending it back toward Hybern as a warning.
The Attor helps lead Hybern's assault on Velaris and joins the slaughter in the Rainbow. Feyre pursues it over the city, disables both wings with bloodbane ash arrows, repeatedly stabs it during their fall, and leaves it to strike the cobblestones, reducing its body to a burned and shattered ruin.
The Night Court preserves a fragment of the Attor's remains and offers it to the Bone Carver, who accepts the relic with delight and keeps it while naming his price.
Jurian reports that the human queens handed their honorable fellow queen over to the Attor after discovering her secret aid to Feyre's side.
