Overview
Tamlin’s Manor is a wealthy but strangely quiet estate, with luxurious interiors and an extensive collection of fine art.
The manor later becomes a prison when Tamlin magically seals every exit, blocking doors, windows, and thresholds and turning the house itself into the instrument of Feyre’s confinement.
In time the manor passes from Tamlin's seat to a haven for his enemies, sheltering Hybern's envoys as they plot against the Wall.
The manor stands cracked, splintered, dark, and neglected, with no guards or household present to challenge intruders.
Important Events
A coordinated assault devastates the manor, bending its gates, forcing its doors, shattering its windows, and wrecking the interior. The absence of bodies reflects a mass capture: most of the court is taken away alive.
The estate is restored after the assault, with its rose-covered house, stables, gardens, and household life intact again.
Tamlin magically seals every exit to imprison Feyre inside the manor. The blocked doors, windows, and thresholds trigger her collapse in the foyer and transform the house itself into the instrument of her confinement.
Hybern’s representatives occupy the manor as royal guests, receiving lodging and meals there while discussing their plans against the Wall.
Location and Access
The manor lies below the western woods within Tamlin’s territory.
Its garden doors open toward cultivated gardens and rolling fields. Stables, broad riding paths, and managed southern woods form part of the larger estate.
Wards prevent anyone from winnowing into or out of the house.
Layout and Features
The house contains silent marble halls, richly furnished bedrooms with private bathing chambers, an elegant dining room, and numerous high-quality paintings. Spring air and floral scents enter through its open windows from the surrounding grounds.
The enormous study resembles a library, with wall-to-wall books, desks, maze-like stacks, a crowded mezzanine, and windows overlooking a rose garden. A concealed mural depicts faerie history and geography.
A gallery wing and a first-floor painting room provide dedicated spaces for displaying and creating art. The extensive hedged grounds include a formal rose garden.
Function and Rules
Tamlin treats the manor and its immediate surroundings as a safety boundary when threats make the wider territory dangerous.
The manor serves as a ceremonial seat of Tamlin’s rule. For the Tithe, its great hall holds his throne, armed sentries, and the line of emissaries extending down the front steps and main drive.
Residents and Affiliations
Lucien occupies a separate second-floor wing, including a private room and a worktable covered with weapons.
Much of the manor’s household and garden activity is concealed by glamour, making the populated estate appear far emptier than it is.
