Overview
Rhys gives Feyre a ruined estate along the river as a combined birthday and Solstice gift, intending the property to become their shared home.
Feyre names the planned residence the river-house and designs it as a large working home for their family and court.
The completed river house is an expansive but comfortable residence whose domestic rooms coexist with spaces for official court business.
Soon after the family moves in, the river house becomes the setting where Rhys assembles the others and carries out the plan for Nesta's intervention.
Later, a bedroom in the river house becomes the site of Feyre's life-threatening labor as the inner circle gathers there through desperate attempts to save her and her child.
Important Events
The river house is where Rhys gathers the others after breakfast and lays out the plan for Nesta's intervention, making the house the place where the confrontation is planned and carried out.
Feyre undergoes a life-threatening labor in a bedroom of the river house, where the inner circle gathers amid desperate healing attempts to save her and her child.
Location and Access
The estate stands along the river on a curve of land overlooking the Rainbow in Velaris.
Layout and Features
The original property consists of overgrown gardens, rubble, and the remains of a destroyed house, all intended to be cleared for new construction.
The finished house has a towering marble entry, a handblown-glass chandelier, pale wood floors, broad windows overlooking the lawn and river, formal business rooms, and furnishings made in Velaris. Feyre's own paintings and other carefully chosen artwork fill the walls, helping the vast estate feel inhabited rather than austere.
Portraits throughout the house depict Feyre's friends and new family, including a painting of Elain with their father, but there are no portraits of Nesta or the Archeron sisters' mother.
A portrait of Nesta now hangs in the grand entry, visibly adding her to the family represented on the walls. The grounds also contain a small temple selected for Nesta and Cassian's mating ceremony.
Function and Rules
Beyond its domestic role, the river house serves as a secure strategy center for the Night Court. Its study hosts confidential briefings and decisions concerning threats such as Briallyn, Koschei, and the Dread Trove.
The study and dining room accommodate prolonged strategic discussions, private crisis management, and controlled magical operations, allowing court business to continue within the family's home.
