Overview
Deigh is Liam’s bonded dragon at Basgiath, with enough presence in Liam’s life that Liam carves his likeness during Battle Brief.
Deigh is killed during the battle at Resson, and the severed bond leaves Liam with only minutes to live afterward.

Deigh is a Red Daggertail.
Personality and Behavior
Liam says Deigh usually keeps his emotions well controlled, though Deigh’s anger can still strike Liam hard through their bond.
Deigh wants to fight Gleann during War Games, and Liam reads that eagerness as proof that dragons can hold grudges.
Relationships
Deigh is bonded to Liam, who feels Deigh’s emotions through their connection.
The bond is life-sustaining for Liam: once Deigh is gone, Tairn tells Violet that Liam has only minutes, and Liam is dying even though he appears physically uninjured.
Sloane Mairi treats Deigh’s death as part of the loss she blames on Violet, because Liam died after Deigh crashed into the wyvern that had been coming for Tairn.

In battle, Deigh is agile enough to launch Liam onto a wyvern so Liam can kill its rider.
Important Events
During the emergency evacuation from the Montserrat turret, Deigh lands on the narrow wall hard enough to crumble masonry, giving Liam the chance to mount and take off ahead of the gryphons.
During War Games, Deigh grapples with Baide near the egg tower. Jack Barlowe jumps from Baide to Deigh, stabs Liam, and Deigh collides with Baide into the tower as Liam falls.
Deigh survives the tower collision and communicates Liam’s condition through the dragon bond, with Tairn reporting that Liam is alive despite the sword wound through his side.
Deigh travels with Liam after Xaden takes Liam into the Athebyne headquarters squad, placing their dragon-rider pair among the selected group.
At Resson, Deigh saves Tairn by colliding with a diving wyvern. The wyvern locks onto Deigh, eviscerates him, and drives him into the hillside, killing him.
The official account folds Deigh’s death into a story about a gryphon attack beyond the wards, while Violet and Xaden know there was nothing to be done for Liam once Deigh passed.
Rhiannon challenges the official explanation for Deigh’s death, and Violet admits only that another dragon did not kill him while refusing to answer further.
Violet later tells Rhiannon, Ridoc, and Sawyer that gryphons did not kill Deigh, overturning the official story for them.
