Marbh

Only showing what’s been revealed up to your current progress. Future events, identities, and relationships are hidden.

Overview

Marbh is Brennan’s Orange Daggertail, a dragon who survived the event that nearly killed Brennan despite being wounded. He keeps watch with the other dragons in the valley above Riorson House while Andarna is there.

Book II · Ch. 2

Marbh is one of the dragons involved in the wardstone effort at Basgiath, where he stays near Brennan and serves as a route for information between the chamber and the wider battle.

Book II · Ch. 64

Personality and Behavior

Marbh can pass information along the dragon communication channels, but Tairn says he is not keen on details. That limitation leaves Violet with only partial information about Brennan’s work inside the ward chamber.

Book II · Ch. 62

Relationships

Marbh is Brennan’s dragon and accompanies him when Brennan goes to the valley above Riorson House.

Book II · Ch. 2

Later, Marbh’s warning helps Brennan react quickly when a riot approaches.

Book II · Ch. 38

Violet treats Marbh as a safe point for Andarna during the battle around the wardstone chamber. She tells Andarna that Marbh will watch after her if the fighting turns badly, and after Andarna kills the dark wielder, Violet sends her down to Marbh.

Book II · Ch. 63

During the wardstone fight, Brennan relies on Marbh to put the word out from the chamber when more riders are needed to imbue the repaired stone.

Book II · Ch. 64

Abilities and Skills

Marbh can relay urgent information through dragon channels quickly enough to affect human decisions. He warns Brennan of an approaching riot and later communicates Xaden’s or Riorson’s vouching for newly arrived riders, giving Brennan useful information before the dragons themselves finish vouching.

Book II · Ch. 39

Marbh carries Brennan on long-distance missions, including the flight to Cordyn. His pace is slower than Tairn’s, so Tairn holds back when Marbh and the other accompanying dragons cannot match him.

Book II · Ch. 40

Marbh can escort another dragon in difficult battlefield movement. He accompanies Tairn as Tairn carries the chained Teine into cloud cover shortly before the windstorm.

Book III · Ch. 61

Important Events

After Tairn extracts Violet from the arena at Cordyn, Marbh joins Sgaeyl and Teine on the terrace above the crowd. The dragons’ position makes clear that any move against Violet’s side risks dragonfire.

Book II · Ch. 42

Marbh brings Brennan to the ledge after Ridoc is wounded. Brennan’s arrival lets him reach Violet and Ridoc immediately after landing.

Book II · Ch. 44

Marbh stands among the six den representatives at the top of the wardstone chamber. His fire is part of the dragonfire needed to activate the wardstone.

Book II · Ch. 56

Marbh’s presence is required for the rescue plan, and Tairn refuses to leave without him, Sgaeyl, and Cuir. Marbh attacks the wyvern ring around Teine with Tairn and Sgaeyl, and after Sloane’s transfer lets Brennan save Mira, Brennan carries Mira toward Marbh so she can be evacuated from the field.
