Teine

Only showing what’s been revealed up to your current progress. Future events, identities, and relationships are hidden.

Overview

Teine is Mira’s huge dragon. His shed scales are sewn into Violet’s vest-style corset as protective armor, putting part of him into Violet’s defenses before she enters the Riders Quadrant.

Book I · Ch. 1

At the latest confirmed point, Teine is recovering under Brennan’s care at the top of the pass after being removed from the battlefield.

Book III · Ch. 62

Appearance

Teine is described as huge.

Book I · Ch. 1

Teine is a green dragon; Violet uses him as her reference point when she sees other green dragons.

Book I · Ch. 3

Teine is a Green Clubtail.

Book II · Ch. 63

Relationships

Teine is Mira’s bonded dragon, and Mira had already known by her Threshing that she wanted to seek him. That certainty stands out to Violet when Violet has no similar connection to any dragon in the valley.

Book I · Ch. 13

Mira loses her connection to Teine as soon as they leave the Continent for Deverelli. Their bond is one of the clearest examples that dragon-rider communication can sever beyond the mainland.

Book III · Ch. 22

Abilities and Skills

Teine can pass urgent tactical information to Mira. At Montserrat, he alerts her that the wards are down, warns that a drift of gryphons is coming, and gives an estimate of the time before they arrive.

Book I · Ch. 27

Teine can relay squad communications during flight and battle coordination, taking that role while Violet searches for Lilith at Basgiath.

Book II · Ch. 59

Important Events

Teine’s shed scales draw two green dragons toward Violet during Presentation. Violet explains that Mira collected the scales after Teine shed them, had them shrunk down, and sewed them into Violet’s vest; the dragons withdraw after the explanation.

Book I · Ch. 12

Teine fights with Mira in Lilith’s forward defensive group at Basgiath’s gates. Violet briefly fears a fallen Green Clubtail might be him, but Tairn confirms Teine is alive, and Violet later recognizes Teine taking down the last remaining wyvern in a sector.

Book II · Ch. 63

A green scale matching Teine’s coloring and Violet’s armor is carried as proof that Theophanie has Mira. Violet first mistakes it for a shield, then recognizes it as Teine’s scale.

Book III · Ch. 56

Teine is found captive in the northern field, chained by his tail, legs, snout, and wings while wyvern perch on the heavy chains around him. The chains are coated in his blood, and several of his scales litter the ground.

Book III · Ch. 58

Tairn, Sgaeyl, and Marbh kill the wyvern around Teine, but Teine remains unconscious and cannot fly. With Garrick too exhausted to move him, Tairn carries Teine off the field by using the chains around Teine’s body, taking him toward the cliffs and wards.

Book III · Ch. 60

Teine recovers quickly under Brennan’s care at the top of the pass. The care moves him from an unconscious, chained battlefield liability to a recovering dragon, though he is not yet shown back in combat.
