Queen Maraya

Only showing what’s been revealed up to your current progress. Future events, identities, and relationships are hidden.

Overview

Queen Maraya rules Poromiel and is important to the fragile alliance talks with Navarre and Aretia. Her hope that Andarna’s old seventh-breed egg may hold knowledge against venin is one reason Poromiel stays at the negotiating table.

Book III · Ch. 4

After Suniva falls to dark wielders, Aetos announces that Queen Maraya is dead. Her death leaves Poromiel’s position politically unstable while the alliance is already under strain.

Book III · Ch. 43

Relationships

Maraya’s succession is a live issue for Cat’s family. Cat says that if Maraya chooses not to have children, Cat’s uncle will rule and Cat’s sister will eventually become queen.

Book III · Ch. 35

Maraya is an allied ruler in Navarre’s official correspondence. Melgren tells her to expect four dragons with riders and a weaponry shipment, but Krovla’s situation keeps Navarre from stationing a full riot at Suniva.

Book III · Ch. 42

Possessions

Maraya has a summer-home library useful enough for Violet’s search into old records and venin knowledge. After learning that Violet risked royal wrath and Navarre’s defenses to protect Poromish fliers at Basgiath, Maraya grants Violet access to that library and promises a full catalog, while warning that her people have not found the specific historical record Violet seeks.

Book III · Ch. 8

The materials from Maraya’s library become part of Violet’s ongoing research. Jesinia says Maraya has sent Violet a list, which matters because the royal vault at Basgiath is missing things Jesinia cannot even identify, and Violet later reads dark-wielder material from Maraya and Tecarus without finding a cure for Xaden or an explanation for Andarna burning venin.

Book III · Ch. 15

Maraya continues sending tomes at Violet’s request after the Anca return. The books remain in use during the cure search, including a volume on venin and medicinal uses that Quinn reads, though they still do not provide the answer Violet needs for Xaden.

Book III · Ch. 28

Important Events

Maraya’s two-day deadline causes the formal alliance effort to fail for the moment. Brennan says the treaty cannot be resolved before the deadline, and the deadline remains a hard constraint even after Navarre finds a possible way to let fliers wield safely under its wards.

Book III · Ch. 6

Maraya agrees to gift the Amelian Citrine to King Courtlyn as the price for a Deverelli meeting. Tecarus states that she will not retrieve it from Anca herself, leaving Violet’s side responsible for the dangerous acquisition while Maraya supports the southern diplomatic route.

Book III · Ch. 17

Aetos announces Maraya’s death after Suniva falls to dark wielders. A closing document addressed to “Your Majesty” discusses the legal consequences of the Second Aretia Accord for Poromish provincial forces, making her death immediately politically destabilizing while the alliance is already under strain.

Book III · Ch. 43

The defense of Suniva underscores the scale of Maraya’s death. Devera says a riot of four had been stationed there to protect the queen, but only one rider and two dragons escaped to provide facts about the attack.
