Calldyr

Only showing what’s been revealed up to your current progress. Future events, identities, and relationships are hidden.

Overview

Calldyr is a Navarrian province whose language helped form the basis of Navarre’s common language.

Book II · Ch. 21

Calldyr is closely associated with Navarre’s royal government: war information is sent there to the king after Basgiath receives it, and the king is consulted through council deliberations connected to Calldyr’s political leadership.

Book III · Ch. 3

Important Events

Calldyr is connected to the aftermath of the rebellion executions through the Mairi family: Isaac Mairi was not on the death roll Violet read because he was executed at the Mairi family house instead.

Book I · Ch. 21

Function and Rules

Violet uses a history debate about why Basgiath was built at its current location instead of in Calldyr as a plausible Archives cover story.

Book II · Ch. 9

Calldyr Province is especially associated with preached loyalty to Hedeon, giving it a distinct religious affiliation within Navarre’s broader worship of the gods.

Book III · Ch. 8

Calldyr is the usual meeting place for the Senarium, so the council’s presence at Basgiath instead of Calldyr stands out during the border dispute.

Book III · Ch. 46

Residents and Affiliations

The Sorrengail family was once stationed in Calldyr, and Brennan remembers domestic life there through the honeyed biscuits their cook made during that posting.

Book II · Ch. 1

Aaric’s hidden royal background is connected to Calldyr: Violet thinks his father may notice his absence from a privileged life there, and Aaric can use being from Calldyr as a quick cover for his knowledge of Old Lucerish.

Book II · Ch. 52

Calldyr has its own political representation in Navarre’s high-level disputes. A guard wearing Calldyr’s crest and the Duke of Calldyr’s role in Senarium discussions identify the province’s visible presence in royal and border negotiations.
