Emery
Only showing what’s been revealed up to your current progress. Future events, identities, and relationships are hidden.
Overview
Emery is introduced as a third-year rider in Violet’s squad at Basgiath.
When his class graduates, Emery receives commissioning orders and leaves the courtyard as a new lieutenant with orders to report to a duty station by morning.
Emery remains in active service, posted with Heaton on guard duty outside Jack Barlowe’s warded cell.
Personality and Behavior
Emery does not seek command; when temporary leadership is available, he declines it and says there is a reason he never wanted leadership.
Relationships
Heaton is the other third-year rider in Violet’s squad alongside Emery.
Emery helps Heaton coach the additional first-years who join Second Squad after Threshing.
Emery and Heaton later receive commissioning orders in the same graduating group.
Emery has a bonded dragon, recognized among the dragons returning with Xaden, Sgaeyl, Garrick, and Chradh.
Later, Emery and Heaton serve together on guard duty outside Jack Barlowe’s warded cell.
Abilities and Skills
Emery’s signet lets him manipulate air; he demonstrates it by sending air rushing down a table hard enough to rattle the glasses.
He describes the signet as control of wind, says he can control a lot of it, and uses a torrent of air to knock a pursuing guard into a stone wall.
In a tactical exercise, Dain assigns Emery to guide dragon flames through occupied sections of a keep, and Mira says that would require Emery to enter the keep on foot.
Important Events
Emery is sent to the border with Xaden and Heaton as part of the commissioned rider shifts manning outposts along the Cliffs of Dralor, where his role is active defense against wyvern and Navarrian riders.
During the Pavis mission, Emery survives with a shattered leg and sends the call that brings Xaden and Garrick from Draithus to Pavis. Mira takes him to the healers after ordering others out of the overrun town.
During Basgiath’s defense, Lilith assigns Emery to a First Wing squad as active riders are spread among cadet squads.
