Emery is introduced as a third-year rider in Violet’s squad at Basgiath.

When his class graduates, Emery receives commissioning orders and leaves the courtyard as a new lieutenant with orders to report to a duty station by morning.

In a tactical exercise, Dain assigns Emery to guide dragon flames through occupied sections of a keep, and Mira says that would require Emery to enter the keep on foot.

Emery is sent to the border with Xaden and Heaton as part of the commissioned rider shifts manning outposts along the Cliffs of Dralor, where his role is active defense against wyvern and Navarrian riders.

During the Pavis mission, Emery survives with a shattered leg and sends the call that brings Xaden and Garrick from Draithus to Pavis. Mira takes him to the healers after ordering others out of the overrun town.

During Basgiath’s defense, Lilith assigns Emery to a First Wing squad as active riders are spread among cadet squads.
