Overview
Adriata is the island capital and principal stronghold of the Summer Court — a fortified harbor city on a mountain-island, and the seat from which the court is ruled. Its exposed coastal position makes it both a hub of Summer life and a front-line target when war reaches the sea.
In the war with Hybern, Adriata comes under active siege as enemy forces move against the Summer Court capital.
The city survives the assault after its defenders force Hybern’s fleet back to sea, but the aftermath leaves Adriata bloodied and damaged.
Important Events
Both the city and its palace are undergoing repairs for damage sustained during Amarantha’s occupation.
Hybern lays siege to Adriata.
Hybern’s vessels block both entrances to the bay while fighting engulfs the harbor, skies, and city. Ships founder amid blood and smoke as the attack reaches Adriata’s buildings and streets.
The defenders force Hybern’s armada back out to sea, and Adriata does not fall. The surviving city is left with wrecked buildings, wounded inhabitants, and civilians stunned by the destruction.
A warm forest just outside Adriata becomes a refuge for evacuated human civilians, who gather there in growing numbers through the night.
Location and Access
The city occupies a mountain-island around a half-moon bay. Bridges connect it to a larger mainland settlement on three sides.
Layout and Features
Adriata is built from tan stone and pale, shell-like materials, with a palace standing high above its red-roofed houses. Its busy harbor accommodates merchant vessels, fishing boats, and ferries.
